Tribute

Leonard Allen Wiley, went to be with the Lord, at home, after a courageous 11 month battle with cancer with his immediate family at his side.

Leonard was born in Walnut Park, California, on May 29, 1940, to Ralph and Mary (Arellanes) Wiley.

He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1960. He was a true patriot and loved his country.

He married Carmelinda Aguirre in 1962, his wife of 56 years. They raised two wonderful daughters, Lisa Ferraro and Melinda Wiley.

Leonard joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1965 obtaining the rank of Police Officer 3 + 1, and retired in 1992 from Legal Affairs Division where he worked as a Civil Investigator for the City Attorney’s Office.  Leonard worked for 3 years for the Monrovia Police Department prior to joining LAPD.

Following retirement, Leonard and Carmelinda relocated to Port Angeles, Washington and lived there for 23 years.

Leonard was a genuine, kind, funny and caring man.  Family was the most important thing to him.  He enjoyed road trips, camping, country music, bike riding at the beach, and walking the Discovery Trail.  He was a good, humble man of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await him after his passing.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife Carmelinda, his daughters Lisa and Melinda, his sister Carol Lee, his brother-in-law Ernest, his son-in-law Dino, and his two adored grandson’s, Caleb and Joshua.

His laugh and smile will be forever in our memory and he will forever be missed.
