Karen Ann Benvie

Karen Ann Benvie of Costa Mesa, California died peacefully on Sunday, September 2, 2018 in Newport Beach, California.

Karen was the first of two daughters born to George James Benvie and Mary Rose Sweeney in Salem, Massachusetts.  She lived most of her life in Orange County, graduating from Huntington Beach High School in 1959.  She began her career with General Telephone and worked as VP of Human Resources for P&D Technologies for over two decades.

Karen had been an avid golfer and tennis player.  In her later years, she read extensively and loved attending movies and plays with friends.  She also enjoyed traveling to Europe with her high school classmates.

She was preceded in death in 2012 by her life partner, Jess Fender.

She is survived by her sister, Pamela McPhee; brother-in-law, Charles McPhee; nephews, David Allen Perry and Michael Patrick Perry (Lisa); niece, Heather Marie Perry; her Aunt Alice Battistelli and numerous cousins in Massachusetts.

Karen will be deeply missed by her family, friends and loving caregivers, Maria and Letty.  Many thanks to all who made Karen's final weeks more comfortable with phone calls, visits, smiles and treats.  Her final hours were blessed by knowledgeable and compassionate care of the staff at Hoag Hospital.
