She went on to seek a Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Buena Vista and received a Master’s Degree from University of Omaha in the field of Special Education. While attending college at Buena Vista, Joan met Louis Livingston and they were united in marriage on August 3, 1958, at the Fonda Presbyterian Church. She taught school in Albert City, IA Atlantic, IA, Vermilion, SD, and Omaha, NE. Along with her husband they raised two children, Jeffrey and Linda. Joan spent summers fishing, teaching Vacation Bible School, and painting ceramics.
When they became grandparents, they wanted to be actively involved in their grandchildren’s lives and purchased a home in Westminster, California. Joan helped babysit her three grandchildren. She helped take care of them in addition to providing hours of fun, love, laughter, and great story telling. As her grandchildren grew, she was a fond supporter during their sports & extra curricular activities. Joan enjoyed traveling in recent years. She was proud to attend Jeff and Maggie’s wedding in Houston, Texas in November 2016.
One of Joan’s greatest accomplishments came in the form of sharing the Lord’s word with those who did not know Him. Her testimony of Faith, Hope, & Love encouraged the lost to seek Him. Her legacy of compassion and kindness will be left behind with fond memories.
