Janette Mary Zeimen

Janette Mary Monnig Zeimen passed on to her eternal life on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 in Garden Grove, CA. She was born in Brunswick, MO on August 13, 1939 to Cecilia & Fred Monnig and was the second youngest of her five siblings. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1957 and had a successful career as a Contracts Administrator at PSI in Commerce, CA. She married the love of her life, Joe Zeimen, on June 13, 1981. 

Jan truly loved her family and found great joy watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and reach milestones in their lives. She especially loved to feed them her delicious homemade meals; you never left her home hungry. 

She was a devout Catholic, with a special devotion to St. Therese of Lisieux and was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. She loved serving others and taught religious education to all groups - First Holy Communion through high school for over 40 years in Missouri, Arizona and California. She most recently served as a member of the St. Bonaventure Bereavement Team.

Jan was the greatest of hosts and will be remembered for her gift of planning gatherings and entertaining family and friends. Jan loved connecting with people and had a genuine interest in learning about their lives. She took great joy in helping others and had a great deal of family and friends who relied on her. She was often the first person they turned to for help and counsel through their life experiences.

Jan was a lifelong musician who loved to sing, play piano, clarinet, the harmonica and also served as her high school drum major. She especially loved to sing at family gatherings, while her children played the piano and guitar. 

Jan will be greatly missed by all those whose lives were touched by her kind and generous heart. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecilia and Fred Monnig; brother, Jim; and sisters, Pat, Betty and Joanie. She is survived by her husband, Joe Zeimen, four children, Theresa Serrano (Mike) of Green Valley, AZ, Mary Beth Vine (David) of Carlsbad, CA, Tim Crowley of Garden Grove, CA, and Mark Crowley (Carolee) of Claremont, CA. She leaves nine grandchildren, Heather (Nick), Amy (Julio), Alysha, Candice (Gib), Chris (Jennifer), James, Patrick, Stone and Ruben and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving brother, Tom Monnig (Kathy) of Marshall, MO, many nieces, nephews and dear friends.  Pallbearers: Mike Serrano, David Vine, Julio Diaz, Chris Serrano, James Crowley, Patrick Crowley, Stone Crowley, and Ruben Crowley. 

Viewing from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, Rosary Vigil Service will be recited on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 7:00 p.m., at Heritage Memorial Services at 17712 Beach Blvd, Huntington Beach, CA. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020, 10:00 a.m. at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church at 16400 Springdale St, Huntington Beach, CA; reception to follow. Interment will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery at 7845 Santiago Canyon Rd, Orange, CA.  

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Organization of Orange County at 770 The City Drive South, Suite 7400, Orange, CA 92868.
