James "Jim" Doherty

James Patrick Doherty, 71, of Westminster, California, passed away from cancer in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family on July 9th, 2019.  Jim was born in Coventry, England and lived there until the age of 11, when his family moved to Canada.  Jim was very proud of the fact that he played Quarterback for the Champions, Sutton High School and after graduation moved to California.

Jim is survived by his wife Jackie of 48 years, daughter Kimberly, sons Christopher and Jeff, Daughters in Law Michelle and Jeri, brother David, sisters Anne and Janet, his loving grandchildren Ronan, Kensington, Jake and Kenna, nieces, nephews, Godchildren, Brothers and Sisters in Law and extended family. Jim was a loving father, husband, granddad and friend to everyone.

Jim loved sports, especially football, where his favorite team was Coventry City Football Club. He worked as a salesman most of his life and took great pride in taking care of his customers. He spent his free time watching various sports games live and on TV.  

Our dad was a man of morality, humility, and faith. He was fearless in the pursuit of starting a life uniquely his own when he left Canada after graduating high school and moved across the country to California. There he met the love of his life, our mother.  They soon started a family and began their beautiful journey together. He loved family very much and always put us first at the expense of his own needs.  There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family. He was friendly and kind to those he already knew and warm and welcoming to those he had never met. Our dad had a way about him that made it easy to have a real conversation with him as though he had known you his whole life. He had a tremendous work ethic and took pride in taking care of those he truly loved.  Dad, our world is a dimmer place this day and your presence among us will be sorely missed.
