Doris LaCrosse DeFraine

Doris Audrey DeFraine (LaCrosse), Fountain Valley, CA, November 21, 2019. Predeased by her Husband Donald L. DeFraine; parents, Cornelius (Neil) LaCrosse, Mary LaCrosse (Larkin); brothers, Bernard /Bernie (Eileen), Richard/Dick (Mary), Arthur/Art (Carmen), William/Bill (Bobbie and Marcia) LaCrosse; Sisters, Gladys LaCrosse, Mildred/Millie (Colin) O’Halloran (LaCrosse). Survived by her loving daughter and son, Lori Donna Wheaton (DeFraine),  and Joseph Donald DeFraine; grandchildren, Justin David (Michelle) Wheaton, Christopher Donald Wheaton, Dominique (Craig) Ellis (DeFraine), Amanda (Geoff) Rigby (DeFraine); great grandchildren, Reagan Ann and Colton David Wheaton, Brayden Ellis, Natalie and Olivia Rigby; loving nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, extended family, dear friends, and caregivers.

Doris was born at home in Rochester, New York. She graduated from Holy Rosary School and Nazareth Academy (Class of 1950). She married in 1952 to her high school sweetheart, Don. In 1976 she and her husband relocated to Fountain Valley, California to follow jobs and sunshine. She completed her Associate Degree and certification for Professional Executive Administration, as well as Floral from Golden West College in Huntington Beach, CA. Later she earned her realtor’s license where she worked for Century 21. She retired from Ballard and Ballard Jewelers in Fountain Valley where she did both sales and represented them at the Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce. Doris belonged to WBC (Women’s business Conference), Red Hats, Ladies Knights of Columbus.

Doris moved to Apple Valley in 2018 to be near her daughter after her diagnosis of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Doris had a love for the Lord and was very active volunteering in her church and community. She was fun, courageous, and an elegant lady. 

Doris’s visitation will be held December 27, 2019, 4:00- 8:00 p.m. at Dilday Chapel, 17911 Beach Boulevard, Huntington Beach California, 92647; Rosary will be said December 28, 2019, 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 17270 Ward Street, Fountain Valley, CA 92708. Her  Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated December 28, 2019 at 10:30 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church followed by a reception at Silky Sullivan’s Restaurant and Irish Pub 12:00 pm – 1:30 p.m., 10201 Slater Ave, Fountain Valley, CA 92708.

Doris will be buried alongside her beloved husband at Miramar National Cemetary in San Diego California.
