Tribute

DONALD “DON” ENDERS

On Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at the age of 82, Don passed away with his wife by his side, in Newport Beach, California. Don was born in Alhambra, California to Paul A. and Margaret E. (Curran) Enders. Predeceased by his brother Norman T. Enders.  Survived by his wife of 57 years Joyce V. Enders and children Sr. Carolyn D. Enders, Darren J. Enders, Susan M. Enders and Kelly A. (Enders) Tretter.  Adoring grandfather to Kailey Lopez, Sean Lopez, Kaya Tretter and Teagan Tretter. Also survived by dear brother Gary D. Enders.

Don spent his early childhood on a farm and enjoyed competing in 4H contests.  Here he learned the benefits of hard work and discipline that he brought to all his future endeavors.  After high school he went into the Navy with his brother Gary where he proudly served his country while traveling abroad.  Don earned a BS degree in Electronics from Cal Poly Pomona in 1962.  He married the love of his life, Joyce, that same year. Don was a respected Aerospace Engineer, Consultant and self-made businessman. Don was a lifelong Catholic who loved the Lord and raised his family to do the same.  He could be found at Mass weekly, if not more frequently, throughout his life.

Don loved spending time with his wife and family, golfing with friends, going to church and joking around with his grandchildren. He had an infectious sense of humor that he shared readily with those around him.  Don traveled the world with his wife Joyce, yet his favorite place on this earth was Yosemite National Park, where he took his family every summer.  Later in life, he loved taking cruises and especially cherished exploring historically significant places around the world.  He was a World War II buff and a true patriot.  He was proud of his “hole in one”, his rose garden, his family and his decades long relationship with his golfing buddies.  His generosity in time and dollars extended from his family to the homeless to his favorite charities: Mercy Corps, Cal Poly Foundation, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Wounded Warriors.  Don easily left this earth better than he found it.  There is no way to measure the loss that is felt by his passing, but we take great comfort in knowing he is in the arms of our Lord.

In Don's honor, a Visitation and Rosary will be held on Thursday, July 18, at 9:15 AM at St. Mary's By The Sea Roman Catholic Church, 321 10th St., Huntington Beach, CA.  A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 AM.  The Graveside Service will be held at approximately 11:15 AM at Good Shepherd Cemetery Mausoleum, 8301 Talbert Ave., Huntington Beach, CA.  A Celebration of Life reception will be held at Mesa Verde Country Club from noon to 3 PM the same day, 3000 Clubhouse Rd, Costa Mesa. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the American Cancer Society or purchase a Mass card in his name.
