Beatrice C. Lorentz
Beatrice 'Bea' Lorentz passed away on March 9, 2019 at the age of 96. Born in Ludington, Michigan, November 13, 1922, she was the daughter of Robert 'R.G.' and Edith Black. She was one of seven children. She is pre-deceased by James Lorentz, her beloved husband of 67 years. They met at a USO dance in San Diego, when James was serving in the Navy, and loved dancing together for many more years!. They married on April 19, 1944 in Oregon. She was the heart of the home, raising five children. Bea enjoyed games, especially bridge, social events, dancing, handicrafts, and was an avid gardener. She especially enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in her later years. Her faith, ability to laugh and persevere allowed her to adapt to life challenges.
Bea was a member of the Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala for over 35 years, and was an active member of the San Carlos Garden Club and TOPS. She moved to the Huntington Beach area in 2012 where she kept active as possible and attended St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. She continued to play mahjong and bridge and participated in many social events.
She is survived by her five children Steve Lorentz, Carol Runzel, Martin Lorentz, Janet Sims and Bill Lorentz; her daughters-in-law Lela, Linda and Margaret and son-in-law Win; 16 grandchildren (Steve, Jeff, Marie, Carey, Laura, Rita, Gina, Katie, Matthew, Christa, Nicholas, Lisa, Jay, Shaun, Bryan, and Kathrine) and 17 great-grandchildren (Dan, Olivia, Kristina, Garrett, Claire, Jeff, Andrew, Diana, Viola, Wyatt, Evan, Sarah, Kelly, Brianna, Calan, Leah and Eric). She is also survived by two sisters, Arlene Christensen and Dorothy Clair and many nieces and nephews who were very special to her. She will be forever loved.
