Edward John Fitzpatrick

February 29, 1920 ~ April 1, 2014 (age 94) 94 Years Old
Edward John (Jack) Fitzpatrick passed away on April 1, 2014.  He is survived by his wife Sylvia, sons Jack Fitzpatrick (Wende) and Jim Fitzpatrick (Amy) and grandchildren, Sean Fitzpatrick (Janine), Amanda Dietz (Dan) and Kira Kyd.  Also included are great grandchildren Brenden and Owen Fitzpatrick.  He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Bruce (Jackie) and Kirk Fitzpatrick and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is pre-deceased by his former wife of 62 years, Jane.

Born in a leap year, on February 29, 1920, Jack was the last one of 8 brothers and sisters raised in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and graduated from Providence College.  He was commissioned as an ensign in the navy from 1942-1945, serving in New Guinea during WWII under General Douglas MacArthur.   Following the war, he married Jane Lemoine.  Naval assignment brought them to Southern California where they raised their two sons.

After the death of his wife, Jane, Jack married his friend, Sylvia Fitzpatrick, whom he had known since 1964.   Because they shared the same last name,  the decision was easy for Sylvia.

His outgoing, jovial personality, along with his ever sharp mind were integral to his success.  No one loved a good ribbing more than Jack did, at his expense or not and that was certainly part of his lovely nature.   Jack also had a unique charm about him that attracted loyal friends quickly in business and outside of business.  Sort of a pied piper of good natured friends.

He was an avid golfer and could brag about his “hole in one” which was accomplished with more Irish luck than pure talent.  He chased that white ball around the course right up to the end.  He sure enjoyed the challenge.   Jack was a devout Catholic, rarely missing church so we feel he is putting around in heaven for sure.  Jack was a good man.  Hard to find these days and know this…..he will be missed very, very, much.
